Awala safeguards your communications in environments where privacy is at risk.

This feature is crucial for maintaining confidentiality under surveillance-heavy conditions.

How Awala works

  • Awala-compatible apps, like Letro, use the Internet normally when you're connected.
  • When offline, couriers can securely carry your app data to and from the Internet without needing access to your device.
  • Couriers can't access, alter, or identify your data or apps. If data is lost, Awala automatically detects and resolves the issue.

A word from our founder

Gus Narea's picture

I designed VeraId to provide users of Letro, a secure alternative to email, with offline-compatible user identifiers robust enough to withstand attacks by nation-state actors.

VeraId evolved into its own project as its potential became clear. Its capacity for attributing content to user-friendly, customisable, decentralised user identifiers can enhance existing systems and pave the way for a new generation of decentralised apps like Letr.
